Snapchat hides works of art visible in augmented reality around the world

In a few years, Snapchat has totally revolutionized the way we communicate with our loved ones. Beyond the instantaneous photo or video messages, the famous social network has mostly known to democratize the use of filters to distort and "beautify" the world around us. Today, Snapchat goes further and uses its technology to promote Art.

On October 3rd, Snapchat unveiled "Snapchat Art", a new feature that allows you to visualize works of art in augmented reality. But unlike "World Lenses" that you can use wherever you are, works of art are available at specific locations. For this first collaboration, Snapchat called upon Jeff Koons, the American artist very well known for his creations like "balloons of balloon" in the image of Balloon Dog below.

To date, the first virtual works are available in the following cities: Paris, Chicago, New York, London, Washington, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Toronto, Sydney and Rio. If you live in Parisyou will have to go toChamp de Mars to unblock the lense and visualize augmented reality one of the works of Jeff Koons.
